RAICES Birthworker Education & Mentorship Program

WHAT TO EXPECT:During the 12-month program, participants will receive:
Comprehensive doula education
Individual mentorship from experienced birth workers
Monthly professional development
Support as they begin working with families
Guidance on building a sustainable doula practice
Information about pathways such as New York State Medicaid doula enrollment
Traditional and ancestry pregnancy, birth, and postpartum education
A community of fellow birth workers learning and growing together
❋ January - March 2027Participants will meet weekly for comprehensive doula education covering pregnancy, labor and birth, postpartum care, client support, and foundations of doula practice.
❋ April - December 2027Participants will continue learning through:
Twice-monthly mentor check-ins
Monthly professional development
Monthly cohort gatherings
Supported experience working with families
Quarterly In-Person Gatherings Four times throughout the year, we will gather in person in NYC for hands-on learning, community building, and deeper exploration of ancestral and traditional pregnancy, birth, and postpartum practices with experienced community birth workers and guest educators.
